Chhattisgarh Farmer Claims Raipur Airport Stands on His Ancestral Land

A farmer from Chhattisgarh has moved the Supreme Court, claiming that the Raipur airport stands on his ancestral land, which was acquired by the government during World War II in 1942. The farmer is seeking a compensation of ₹3,500 crore for the acquisition of his land.

The petitioner has argued that the land was acquired without his family's consent and that they were not given fair compensation for the acquisition. The farmer has also claimed that the acquisition was made under the provisions of the Defence of India Act, 1939, which was repealed in 1946.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the petition and has issued a notice to the government, seeking its response to the claims made by the farmer. The court has also asked the government to provide details of the acquisition and the compensation paid to the farmer's family.
